Industry Quality Standards | Eclipse Magnetics

Commitment to Quality

Customers demand high-quality magnets that perform as expected every time. Eclipse Magnetics has a UK Quality Control system that helps us to inspect our manufacturers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure that magnets and magnetic assemblies are manufactured and delivered and specification to help customers meet their Quality requirements.

Here's a range of quality management systems we carry out for quality assurance...

ISO 9001 & ISO 14001

Eclipse Magnetics has ISO 9001, which is the world’s most popular quality management system.  Our magnets, supplied to ISO 9001 statutory and regulatory requirements, ensures our magnets and magnetic assemblies that you receive will meet a set of standards that helps your organization ensure it meets your own customer and other stakeholder needs.

Eclipse Magnetics also has ISO 14001, which is the international standard for designing and implementing an environmental management system.  By having ISO 14001, Eclipse Magnetics continually looks to how our operations might negatively affect the environment and is a sign to our customers that we will comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements and that we will continually look to reduce our environmental impact.

IATF16494

Eclipse Magnetics can help in the supply magnets that can meet IATF16949 (formerly TS16949) requirements for supply into the Automotive Industry.  IATF 16949 is an automotive industry supply chain and assembly process technical specification to develop a quality management system that provides for continual improvement, which emphasizing defect prevention and also the reduction of waste.  To facilitate this Eclipse Magnetics regularly supplies magnets into the Automotive Industry that will come with PPAP Level 3 and PSW documentation.  We also supply magnets that have had their details entered into the IMDS.

IMDS

The International Material Data System is a global data repository that contains information on materials used by the automotive industry.  As part of providing our magnets into the automotive supply chain, we work with the automotive customer to enter the details of the magnet they will use onto the IMDS system.

PPAP

Eclipse Magnetics is used to providing customers with PPAP documentation.  Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is used mainly in the automotive supply chain for establishing and confirming confidence in suppliers and their production processes.  PPAP is a series of documents which need a formal certification / sign-off by the supplier and approval / sign-off by the customer. There are varying levels of PPAP documentation – most of our automotive customers tend to accept PPAP Level 3 (PSW with product samples and complete supporting data).  For PPAP we take actual measurements from our parts produced and we use this data to complete the various documentation sheets of PPAP.  PPAP, although used primarily in automotive industry, is also used sometimes used in aerospace and other industries as well, to provide additional information relating to demonstrating a Quality product is being produced and supplied.

PSW

When a customer asks Eclipse Magnetics to provide a PPAP for the magnets we supply, a PSW is created as part of that process.  The Part Submission Warrant (PSW) is form that summarises the PPAP for customers (usually automotive customers supplied by Eclipse Magnetics).  It is a procedure by which the supplier of a part (magnets) or subsystem (e.g. magnetic assembly or magnetic sub-assembly) gives evidence to the customer that the supplier is able to satisfy the requirements of Delivery date, Quality, Process Capability and Production Rate.  So Eclipse Magnetics can provide the PPAP with PSW to any automotive customer who wants to use our magnet and magnetic assemblies.

FAIR

Eclipse Magnetics supplies FAIR for customers who use our magnets mainly in the aerospace and defence industries.  First Article Inspection (FAI) is the process of planning, manufacturing, and verifying a production process and is used mainly in the aerospace and defence industries.  A First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) is the document used to certify that each magnet sample has been produced and inspected according to the customer's specifications.  Eclipse Magnetics can also perform and complete the documentation for meeting the requirements of an AS9102 FAIR.

RoHS and RoHS 2

Eclipse Magnetics will always supply magnets and magnetic assemblies that are RoHS and RoHS 2 compliant.  The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) restricts (with exceptions) the use of a specific list of hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.  As the rules on RoHS evolve over time, Eclipse Magnetics will comply with RoHS.

REACH

Eclipse Magnetics will always supply magnets and magnetic assemblies that are REACH compliant.  The Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation covers the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment. As the rules and regulations on REACH evolve over time, Eclipse Magnetics will comply with REACH.

Conflict Minerals

Eclipse Magnetics will always be Conflict Mineral compliant.  Conflict Minerals refer to raw materials or minerals that come from a particular part(s) of the world where conflict is occurring and affects the mining and trading of those materials.  There are rules and regulations in different countries which requires companies in the supply chain to ensure they import these conflict minerals and metals from responsible and conflict-free sources only.  As the rules and regulations relating to Conflict Minerals evolve over time, Eclipse Magnetics will comply with Conflict Minerals.
