Employee Spotlight: Kallum Chambers | Eclipse Magnetics

Employee Spotlight: Kallum Chambers

At Eclipse Magnetics, our employees are at the centre of our business, and we want to shine a spotlight on the individuals who make our workplace a thriving and dynamic community.

This month, we caught up with Internal Sales Executive, Kallum Chambers, to find out more about his life both inside and outside of work.

When did you join Eclipse Magnetics?

I have been with Eclipse for a year now. I joined at the beginning of July in 2023 as an Internal Sales Executive.

What did you do before joining Eclipse Magnetics?

Before I joined Eclipse Magnetics, I studied Business and Marketing at university. At the same time, I was training to be a manager at Sainsburys, in-between studying for my degree.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I think it’s great how varied the work is – each day is different (as cliché as It sounds). I love the team – I’m a big believer that the joy you get from work is through the experiences you have with your colleagues and customers. I have also learned so much here since leaving university, by being in internal sales it has allowed me to learn across the board all aspects of the business and how it operates.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like to try my hand at nearly every hobby that exists. I’m a firm believer that you’ve got to try everything at least once! I like pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

I have started taking up climbing as I do enjoy finding different ways of keeping fit and, amongst this, I have also started to play badminton over the past year and taken up tennis again since the start of summer. I like to stay consistent with the gym and finding new ways to challenge myself there. I had taken part in a cross fit competition at the beginning of the year at my local gym, where me and my team achieved second place out of 11 teams!

Food is also a big passion of mine (as it is everyone’s)! If you ask half of the office, they will say that all I talk about is food. I love to cook; I especially enjoy the eating part that follows. I just like to explore with different meals, flavours and combinations.

I really enjoy travelling, too. Whether it be across the UK or overseas, I want to see and try everything while I can.

Tell us a surprising fact that not many people know about you.

I’m a big movie buff, every genre and every era is fair game. I love the cinema, I enjoy the nostalgia that movies give and I can talk the heads off of anyone about movie trivia and movie conspiracy theories. I also enjoy going to the theatre as I used to take part in shows in and out of school up until I finished university. I hope to take part in similar activities in the future, too!

What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

It’s definitely hard to pinpoint one thing as it has been a whirlwind since starting my career here. I’m most proud of my product knowledge developing and this is something that is still happening day to day. It’s great to see how far I have come, especially in the area of magnets I don’t think I was prepared for.

The wormhole that this industry is – that is something I enjoy as well. There are so many applications and unique projects that I have been a part of. I also took great pride in seeing my first order from start to finish; starting off with the site visit, to then signing off the order gave me a great feeling of what sales is like.

In the future, I hope to work on developing my skills and experiences through Eclipse, improving my skills throughout the journey as I really value the sense of achievement from learning new things and bettering myself.

I’m currently working a lot with our foreign body removal (FBR) department and this is definitely an area of the business I wish to further lean into. I would like FBR to hopefully be my area of expertise in the future.
